Anyone have problems with Lago Tech Support.?

Featured Replies

Recently I purchased Lago's Honolulu scenery from simflight network. I received my files and download key immediately and hae been very happy so far. However, I noticed a version difference between my Lago Honolulu file and that on the website. The newest version is listed as 2.1.0, whereas mine is 2.0.1.Being the type of person I am, I like to keep my files updated, so I tried to get the 2.1.0 version and was told on the website, I could only download it if I had purchased it.I wrote to technical support and explained that I had purchased their program from a reseller (simflight) and if there was a way for them to "look up" or transfer my license to their website to allow me to download the newest version.I finally got an answer that basically said, if I didn't buy it from Lago themselves, they could not support me and directed me to Simflight. Now I know that Microsoft often does not handle support for windows installed by an OEM provider. But this is different.Simflight doesn't support any of the things they sell, the sell them. Yet Lago, is the one who has the technical resources, but will not support me because I didn't buy direct from them.Does this seem right to anyone else. I will check simflight to see if they have version 2.1.0, but really I find it a bit disturbing that a company will only support the products they sell direct, and not products provided by their resellers.

I don't know.. Lago is a good company, but funny one nonetheless.Does simflight have 2.1? If so then they might let you to download an upgrade to the newer.

No.They have two files, one for FS2002, and one for FS2004, which is clearly 2.0.1.Now I could definitely see that maybe there is a numbering conflict as the Lago website does not include a patch from 2.0.1 to 2.1.0. (Perhaps it's just transposition). What worries me a bit more is their unwillingness to support a product, or allow updates to anyone who did not purchase direct from Lago.I work for a KVM switch company, and while we don't support OEM'ed units (units with the name of Dell or Compaq on them) due to contract limitations, we certainly do not deny support to someone who bought from CDW instead of directly from us.If Lago had allowed modification to the files to call it "sim market" honolulu, I would be inclined to understand, as it's now a "sim market" product. However this is not the case. Both versions are clearly Lago products, and as a result, I feel they should be obligated to support both, irregardles of where you buy them from.I'm not too upset from a practical standpoint because my version 2.0.1 works fine, but from a philosphical standpoint it's a bit puzzling and disturbing as a look at my activation key can clearly be traced to my purchase on Sim Market, and I volunteered to give them the key for the sole purpose of ensuring that I am the rightful owner of the product, so it's not a piracy protection thing, from what I can see.
