November 24, 200421 yr After just getting off a flight from United Flight 877 DEN to SEA, I decided to go ahead a write this and hope it find its way to Microsoft. I am base in Seattle and currently employed with United Airlines. Working for the airlines gives me the opportunity to fly anywhere at a drop of a dime, as long there are seats on the plane. I was using Flight Simulator since 95 came out and spent countless hours flying mostly commercial jets. My experience with Microsoft over the years has been pretty good. Every now and then I go to the favorite flight sim web sites and read the forums and just hear what people have to say. Majority of the people seem very please with Microsoft Simulator over the years and there are a few that complains about every thing. I heard thru the grapevine that Flight Simulator 2004 would be Microsoft last and I pray that is not true, but if there will be a Flight Simulator 2006. I will like to go ahead and tell you some of improvements I would like to see. Every time I purchased a new version of Flight Sim, I always tell myself what would I like to see improve. Man, after Flight Simulator 2004, I thought I was set but over time it gave me a few ideas that would be more realism to everybody's flying experience.Scenery This is a tough one and I really do not have much to say about any improvements since Microsoft greatly enhanced their scenery engine in 2004. I would like to see the orange dots at night moving like traffic like in 2002, be brought back in the next version. Also, the reduce frame rate most flight simmers experience with clouds. I know there been a few fixes or patch by 3rd parties but this should be a problem the Microsoft should take care of.ATCMicrosoft introduced AI Aircrafts in 2004 but what about AI ATC...hmmmm. From ground, tower, departure and center. Some may ask how this would be an improvement. Well, think about this....AI aircraft are only as good as the command ATC gives them. I think with an AI ATC you will have better traffic flow. After spending many, many, hours listening to ATC when I fly. How many times you have to land at a busy airport like Chicago, LA, Atlanta or Dallas on that uses multiple runways on FS 2004 and the tower tell you and 4 other planes to go around and you do not even have your traffic set to 100%. Starting with Approach....One of the biggest problems with Approach in FS2004 is that it will assign you and five other planes 1 or 2 miles apart from each other to land on the same runway, while having one aircraft land on another runway. So you are stuck with 3 or 4 planes having to go around, which is totally frustrating at big airports that use different runways to land on? I know you can go ahead and assign a different runway but the other runway could be just as busy or not busy at all. In real life, Approach assign different airspeed for each aircraft before landing which helps keep aircrafts at a safe distance from each other while landing. Approach might tell you to reduce speed to 210kts due to Boeing 747 in front of you or speed things up so traffic behind will not get back up. So AI approach will monitor your speed and keep a safe distance between each aircraft and be smart enough not to assign you 1 or 2 miles behind another aircraft landing on the same runway but smart enough to calculate a safe distance between each aircraft and assign a runway properly. Tower....The AI tower will continue to monitor your speed in order to keep safe distance between each aircraft and also advise you of wake turbulence of the aircraft in front of you. Also during Takeoff, AI Tower will have immediate takeoffs. This will help resolve aircrafts just sitting there and waiting to takeoff due to too many planes landing on the same runway and eventually the airplanes just disappear. There would be planes like 5 or 6 miles out ready to land and I could have taken off 2 times. Anyone who flies know there are many, many times where planes taxi on the runway and just go!!!! No waiting no anything. Center.....The Center in FS2004 is pretty solid except when assigning different altitude due to turbulence. With AI Center, as a pilot and you experience turbulence, you ask the AI Center if it is smoother above or below you and AI Center will tell you it is smoother at 35000 ft instead of 33000ft like they do in real life not you telling them that you like to increase or decrease altitude.Departure & Ground....Both are pretty solid and not much I can think of except Departure monitor your speed below 10000 ftWeatherMicrosoft made great improvement with their Weather engine and over the years and after each new release of Flight Simulator, we saw many improvements with the weather. This is a tough one but there are a few and I mean a few things that could really enhance everyone's flying experience. Let's start with the rain which really not the problem. The problem is when the rain hits the ground or does it. A nice added feature would be creating an illusion by giving the concrete or asphalt a wet look by giving a darker look, maybe reflection of water appearing on the ground and you can see the rain drops hitting the ground. I spent a lot of time looking at planes land and takeoff at LAX and when planes takeoff in the rain and fire up those engines. You see all the water mist spool up behind the airplane as it leaves it in its mist. This may be small and some may not even care but when I am flying and it
