FS2004 error message - can you help?

Featured Replies

Hello friends :)I was careless and erased the files held here:C:Documents and SettingsMy DocumentsFlight Simulator Fileshttp://www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk/boa...con_redface.gifNow when I start FS2004 I get this error message:"The requested flight file is corupt or can't be found. Flight Simulator will now try to load the default flight."I press "OK" and the sim loads normally.Everything works, but I notice tiny things creeping up...like instead of clouds theres just outlines of them (like someone drew on blue canvas with a white marker) but they jump back to normal after a few seconds. I guess I've buggered something :(As Murphy would have it; I have backed up all FS2004 files except (you guessed it) those!Would anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Quickest way is to rename your FS9.cfg to fs9.cfg.bak... MSFS will rebuild a new cfg and link back to the default.flt file.I'm afraid unless you've backed up those flt files, they are a goner--but all your flt files that shipped with MSFS will still be there.-John

John-Your instructions worked like a charm! I thought I was going to have to reinstall. Learn something new everyday! Thanks very much :)------------------------------------------------------------------------I had a hard time hunting down fs9.cfg, it doesnt show on any searches! So, for the benefit of anyone else who might have trouble looking for it, fs9.cfg is sitting here:C:Documents and SettingsUser NameApplication DataMicrosoftFS9
