Additional FS9.exe instance after quitting FS2004

Featured Replies

For the past several weeks, I have found that after I quit FS2004, there is an instance of FS9.exe still running. I need to manually kill this process with the Windows XP Task Manager. I also find that if I try to quit ServeInfo before killing the FS9.exe process, that ServeInfo will hang. I also cannot shut down Windows without first killing the FS.exe process (or XP tries to do so upon receiving a shutdown request). I am running Windows XP Home SP1, on a P4 3.4 GHz Dell 8300 system. 1 GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 XT, running dual CRT displays. DirectX 9.0B. DXDIAG reveals no problems found in any category. WHQL certified drivers running.I upgraded to FS9.1, but it has not solved the problem.I am running FSUIPC registered version 3.4Also installed - NY Megascenery and Scenery Manhattan. When I use FS2004, I usually operate on VATSIM, and launch applications in the following order:Launch ServeInfo 2.0.2 (configured to connect to ServeInfo Gauge)Launch SB Relay 1.2. Wait for session initiation to complete.Launch FS2004(currently version 9.1)in Window'ed modeConnect to SBRelay via FS2004 multiplayer on main options screenSet FS2004 scenario options in "Create a flight"Enter simulation/cockpit modeLaunch HostSB module within FS2004.Launch Squawkbox 2.3 beta. Go through std. process of connecting.Launch ActiveSky 2004.5, running online WX updates.Launch Advanced Voice Client version 1.0Launch AVC Tuner version 1.3.3.0, wait for good connection to serverLaunch Fraps (video/screen capture utility) version 2.3.2(build 2665)Connect to VATSIM network via Squawkbox.Usually launch Active Camera 2004 registered version 2.0 (now also using patched version for FS 9.1)Run in full screen mode on primary display. I have also tried launching FS2004 from FSW Sky World 2004, which I also have installed. Same problem occcurs after FS2004 shut-down.Shutdown process:Switch to FS2004 window'ed mode.Disconnect from VATSIM network.Quit Squawkbox.Close HostSB window.Disconnect from SBRelay in FS2004 multiplayer.Shut down Active Camera.Shut down ActiveSky.Quit FSW Sky World, if running.Shut down AVC and AVC Tuner.Quit FS2004.Prompted for pilot log entries. FS2004 appears to shut down cleanly.Try to quit ServeInfo at this point - it hangs. If I try to quit ServeInfo before closing FS2004, ServeInfo will close down OK, and will also subsequently re-launch with-out a problem. As a result, I believe it is an interaction between FS2004 and ServeInfo.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!WayneMetro 1 / NMH01Metro Helicopters VAwww.metrohelo.org

Wayne,Active Camera 2.0 could be the cause. Due to a conflict with DirectInput on some computers the FS9.exe process is still running after FS 2004 is shut down. Therefore it was not possible to save the Active Camera settings in the setup menu. This dll fixes the issue http://www.anticyclone.be/AC2004_2_0%20fix%20FS9_1.exe Give it a try and let me know.Regards,

Serge,Thanks very much for your response! Do I install this new patch over the existing Active Camera version 2, which I have already patched to be compatible with FS 9.1?Best regards,Wayne

Yes Wayne, this will overwrite the existing ActiveCamera2004.dll.Best regards,

O wow i was wondering what was doing that... i didnt really care to much i just CTRL-ALT-DELETE to kill it off...that could be the reason AC dosent remember it settings....anyway ill give it a try as well..

It worked! :-) Thanks much for your assistance!Regards,WayneMetro 1

This is a similar problem that I would appreciate your advice on. I don't use Active Camera but recently for whatever reason, when I shut down FS9 I get an error message just saying that there was a problem with FS9 with buttons to advise or not advise Microsoft about the issue. There is also a check box where you can elect to restart FS9.It's no big deal just to click "Don't Send" and the issue is over but I am worried that over time, all those "errors" might be messing with my systme.Any thoughts?

Same problem here, but I found that this only happens if you shut down FS and then do anything else on the desktop before all instances of FS9 are really shut down (I have a 2nd one as I am running two monitors). If you give it a little time after shutdown it won't happen with my system.Alex

the patch worked for me as well... and now AC remebers the settings i left it on ...thanks
