In search of laptop PMDG 777 users

Featured Replies

Hello guys

I was wondering if there were laptop users active here and if they had problems running it with airports addons like flightbeam washington and flytampa Dubai etc.

If yes could you tell me how much FPS you have and which laptop you exactly have?

I am planning to buy one and use it for long haul flights between airports like Aerosoft and stuff.

Hi,

I've been using laptops for about 20 years and some version of ms FS on all of them.

Currently using fsx with the PMDG 737,747, and now 777. Love them all.

I know the story with the 2D cockpit and I do miss it because the screen is so much smaller than my desktop, but you do get used to it and it does add a bit of extra tension when T/O and Landing.

I have always used Toshiba satellite models off the shelf.

However, I always get them loaded with as much ram as possible.

My current one is an:

i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.3 Ghz , windows7 pro with SP1, 64 bit OS and 16 GB Ram.

I tend to load big scenery like ORBX on my desktop with the bigger screens for better viewing, but I will load detailed airports add-ons on my laptop. I also use Navaids for the airport Sids and Stars and have no problem swapping back and forth as my flight progresses.

I always expand the mcp and the fmc panels over the top of the vc cockpit, and that is the only frustration, because as you swap between fsx and its map, these close down, and then you have to re-open them. But like I said earlier you get used to it.

Hope that helps.
