November 30, 200421 yr I have a problem. When I start FS9 the program freezes when I enter the Create Flight screen. I've been in the FS.cfg file and deleted the line 'SITUATION' in the 'USERINTERFACE' part of the cfg. I did so because i deleted all my old saved files after reading that it could be those that were causing the freezes when I tried to start FS9 or set up a flight when I start the program. I also deleted it because FS) said it could not find the flight in the folder (because I deleted them all).So instead I started by writing this line:SITUATION=Z:GAMESMICROSOFTFS2004FLIGHTSotherFLTSIMThe line I deleted were this:C:Documents and SettingsMadsMy DocumentsFlight Simulator Filestest display settingsNow what happend is when I started FS9 the program took me straight for the runway and the C172. No startup screens or create flight and so on. Well, the computer worked that way but I want the normal screens so I deleted the line totally in the cfg:SITUATION=Z:GAMESMICROSOFTFS2004FLIGHTSotherFLTSIMNow when I start start the FS) still freezes instantly when I try to acess the 'create flight screen'. I can jump around on any of the other choices like 'multiplayer' 'Flying Lessons' 'Getting Started' etc. etc. without anything is happening????Can anybody help???Madsps. If I choose a flight directly from'Select A Flight' then it stats and there is no problem. My system is P4 2,8Ghz, 1gb ram, 160gb HD, 20gb HD, 6800GT 256mb graphicscard, XP Pro with servicepack2
November 30, 200421 yr Since you've been in the FS9.cfg, I simply would suggest you rename it to FS9.cfg.bak, then let FS9 start. It will rebuild it the way it expects things to be... Sounds like it will fix the problem in your case. If it doesn't, you can restore the backup and wait for more input from other users.-John
November 30, 200421 yr hi john - thax for your input:-)i have already tried your suggestions but to no help unfortunatly:-(any other suggestions?mads
November 30, 200421 yr Gents - I fixed the problem.I'm not sure exactly how but it all started back when I was in the air, saved the flights and at the same time made it my default flight. After saving I continued the flight, landede and changed aircraft and so on.... I dont know what happende but in another post here at avsim i read that this can 'confuse' FS9.It didn't make it better that I deleted all my saved flights in the folder My Documents. Finally I also mistakes OSS and ther London City 2004 to have something to do with this. I first deleted the fs9.cfg file - to no help. Then I deleted the OSS scenery and also again the cfg-file. And that fixed it somehow - at least it looks like it. Regarding the line 'SITUATION' in the cfg-file it now only says 'SITUATION=' and nothing more.cheers
