Spot View Question

Featured Replies

I am just getting into using spot view...because of the Spitfire actually, but I can't figure out how to STAY directly behind the aircraft...so that I can land the thing from the outside view.Is it possible to do so?THANKS!

I think you just press the space bar

I've assigned the space bar function to buttons on my joystick and yoke. This allows me to instantly snap to the default view in the VC.David

Hmmm. What the space bar does for me is to position me at about a 30 degree angle behind and to the right of the airplane I'm flying...sort of like in the wing man position in a flight of two.Where I want to be...and to stay...is directly behind the plane being flown i.e. if it turns my view is still directly from behind.I have hardly ever used spot view so I don't even know if this is possible. What I want to do is watch the plane land which I really can't do if every directional adjustment puts me off to one side or the other. But if I could just snap back to directly behind that would be fine. It's just that the space bar doesn't do that for me. Is there a way to set up the space bar command to that it puts me directly behind the airplane?THANKS

Don't you have a hat key on your joystick that moves you around in spot view? Thats how my Saitek works! CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif

I use 'Numpad 2' with NumLock ON. Puts me directly behind the aircraft. But I hate breathing all that exhaust.Regards,JerryH

Thanks, I'll give that a try. The FS9 instructions re: the spot view say that you can set the default (spacebar) view to any angle you want by "dragging the red line in the airplane picture" (the picture in the spot view set up page) to orient the aircraft the way you want to.But I have no red line running through the picture and can find no other way to reset the default view.Yes, on my PFC yoke, one of the buttons snaps me back to the default view, but it is off to the side as I have mentioned.I'll see what num key 2 does. Thanks

Hi. I couldn't find the red line either, but if you set up 'roll' in that dialogue box in the corner of the view options screen, then I think pressing the 'space' bar will take the view directly behind the plane.

or whatever command you've given it:+ !!. I read the post and then forget the content I'm having to concentrate on this typing lark!
