December 9, 200421 yr i'm sure if you post links to your pictures someone on this forum could do it - its fairly simple if you've got the software - photoshop or similar
December 9, 200421 yr you know, i had another thought.theres a great opensource - ie free and legal - program called "the gimp" (which is an acronym for something) that does essentially the same things as the full photoshop. it has installers for windows, mac,and unix. its a bit more complicated to install than typical commercial software, but i'm sure after learning to work with flightsim, anyone should be comfortable with it
December 9, 200421 yr I just learned to do this a few weeks ago and put a notice here that I would do the same for anyone that wanted to do the same. Send me the photos and tell me what you want and I will make the picture for you. Here's the one I put into the cotpit of the new '04 Super Constilation and a screenshot while flying over Lake Tahoe. Send photos to;[email protected] is the one I made of myself ( had to use my U.S. Coast Guard Hat as I did not have a real pilots hat).
December 12, 200421 yr Hi, If you could explain to me how it is done, I would appreciate it! :)I have everything ( allprograms and a camera) to do it here !ThanksMike
December 12, 200421 yr sure, theres essentially only 1 tool you need to use in photoshop or similar program. -it the lasso tool. the allows you to draw an outline around yourself in the photo, then cut it and paste it over another photo. so you take a screenshot of the cockpit at the highest screensize you can (for better resolution) then you paste that image into photoshop. then you cut out your own picture (ctrl-x) and paste it on top (ctrl-v).a couple of other notes - the polygonal lasso tool is easier to use, it has straight edges, so you need to zoom pretty far, but it doesn't require the nearly impossible dexterity of the normal lasso. to get to the polygonal lasso just hold the mouse down over the normal one and it will show you additional options.when you paste in your photo it will be on a new layer, you can move it around with the move tool, and resize it by going to edit/transform/scale. this should be enough to get it reasonably well done.if the scene out the window is to be a real aerial photo, not from ms, then you would start with the aerial photo, then paste in the cockpit(which will cover the original photo) then cut the windows out of the cockpit photo, revealing the aerial photo behind, then procede as described above.i realize that if you are unfamiliar with it this may be alot to digest, but these programs are good to play around with, just make sure you keep an original copy of the all the images, so you can start over if need be.one other useful tip - to make the backround (the image you start with) editable go to layers/new layer from backround. this will let you resize and rotate the backround as well.good luck
December 12, 200421 yr attached is a screenshot highlighting the important areas of photoshophttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/100276.jpg
December 12, 200421 yr You can skip that first step of taking a screen shot of the cotpit/panel that you want to use. Just look in the panel folder of the aircraft you want to be in, and there are "bitmaps" (.bmp) of all of the panel views. In photoshop, open a "new document, drag you .bmp onto it and then drag the picture of yourself onto the same "new document" and use the "move " tool to get your self placed where you want to be in the panel photo. "flatten the photo" and save as a .bpm and replace the ORIGINAL .bmp in the aircraft's panel folder with the one you just made and there you have it. The next time you call up that aircraft, you will see youself. That's how I made mine. THERE IS ALWAYS MORE THAN ONE WAY TO DO ANYTHING IN PHOTOSHOP !jERRYCWO4P.S. I'll still do it for you if you send me the .bmp from the pannel of your desired aircrat and the photo you want to place there.
December 17, 200421 yr It's been a few days since your post. Did you ever get your picture made? Jerrycwo4
