GCXO R/W 30

Featured Replies

Good afternoon Members.I posted this topic recently in the Scenery Forum, but didn't get any replies, so maybe it was in the wrong area.Does anyone know how to make the Landing light poles for Tenerife North 30 sit correctly in relation to the approach terrain. I enclose a screen shot taken whilst on R/W 12, facing the poles.I know that in reality, they are situated on the side of rising ground, but the virtuality is that when making an approach to R/W 30, the aircraft fly straight through the middle of the landing light poles. Many ThanksPaul

Your screen shot didn't make the trip! Thinking there might be one attached to your message in Scenery Design Forum, I visited there only to find the screenie never made that trip either! So, guessing that you're referring to the strip with the orange uprights that usually populate the ends of runways, I checked out the approach to 30 at GCXO and although I see no rise of ground, I do notice that the bar is closer to the end of the runway than is usually the case, but I don't see it interfering with a landing. If it were removed and another placed at a more appropriate distance away, would that solve your situation? If you maintain that there is a rise of elevation at this spot, would it be because you're using an add-on scenery for this airport?

Actually I know exactly what your talking about I had the scenery installed once and never got it running Correctly. What happens somehow is the Elevation is raised to the point that the markers are level at the end of the runway.Almost seems like the Flatten command is mixed up. So you do fly right through them. I'm sorry I couldn't be more useful, But I finally gave up. Which is a shame considering the challenge of this Approach. And I'll even enclose the photo to show how it should be http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v95/Geddy_2112/GCXO1.jpgCheers

Good Morning, and thanks for a swift reply. I'm fairly new to the forums, and maybe haven't quite got the hang of attaching a screen shot yet, but the shots can be found athttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/100467.jpg /100468.jpgIf you manage to locate them, you'll see exactly what I mean, as from the flightdeck view, the ground remains level, and then falls away down a hillside towards Santa Cruz, and the landing lights poles fall away with it, but the lights remain in line with each other, in other words, the height of the poles increases the further away from the threshold they are. Finally, yes you're right, I am using AddOn scenery, but it doesn't have any Flatten/Exclude commandsBest RgdsPaul

You should have mentioned that you're using add-on scenery. Secondly, are you using only _one_ add-on? The reason I ask is because it also looks like the terrain mesh has been altered. Is the add-on designed for the version of FS that you're using?Since this certainly appears to be related to an add-on you're using, why not contact the author(s)?

Hello Clark. Thanks for the reply, most helpful. Looking at the view that you've posted, I really could fly that, the terrain looks just right, and the poles shorten in length the nearer the threshold you get. My lighting poles on the other hand, look all the same height, and the T Bar as depicted on your jpeg is reversed on mine, look athttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/100467.jpg and you'll see what I see.I'll continue to research it, and see what happens. If we don't speak again, have a nice Xmas.Paul
