how to load tetures faster?

Featured Replies

hey everyone is there any way to get textures to load faster in FS9? I am primarily concerned with the textures i use for AI aircraft as i use planes such as POSKY and FFX models as I like the level of detail much better than the stuff that comes with Project Ai or Fs painter, etc. I realize the more compplicated the model is the longer it will take to load them but is there a way to change the settings in the FS9.cfg file to sped up load times? thanks

Your using POSKY and FFX models for AI!!!!!, jebus, you must have some find of super computer.Ok, you have 2 options, the first option I would do for ALL of your planes.1) Download DXTBMP and convert all of your wastefull 32-bit textures into DXT3 textures, that way you will speed up the texture loading, and also save disk sapce, the quality differential is minimal at worse.2) Dont use POSKY and FFX models for AI, it is an EXTREME waste of resources for AI traffic, the current crop of AIA models and textures are more than detailed enough for AI use.Blimey, I would how low your FPS must be flying into an EGLL packed with traffic.Dan.

Hi, can you give the file name for this as the library only points to planes that use it? Thankyou.
