January 1, 200521 yr Happy New Year to everyone.I've been reluctant to install the v9.1 upgrade because it seems from reading the forums it can be quite a problematic process. My decision to attempt to upgrade is to 'hopefully' resolve a CTD problem when leaving or entering the boundary limits of NL2000 V2.91.Their forum contributors suggest the upgrade might solve the problem but the NL2000 authors are still trying to find a fix for it.Having carefully read the FS2004 9.1 update install instructions, there is nothing there that I can relate to, to resolve the "could not be sucessfully installed" message I keep on receiving after each attempt to install. I have a registered version 3.411 FSUIPC, I have installed the 9.1 update to FS Camera V2, I have restored the FS9.exe so that I have to start the program with CD disk 4 in the drive. The install program reaches the Processing modulesAI_PLAYR.DLL there is a significant pause, the progress bar remains at 0% then the dreaded message "The update could not be sucessfully installed"If anyone out there can give me a steer on what I should consider to get this update installed I would be eternally grateful. Many thanksPeter Wilshire
January 1, 200521 yr Welcome to the forums, Peter. It seems that your original (ver9.0) AI_PLAYR.dll has been somehow altered or replaced (most likely by a 3rd party add-on). Before the 9.1 update can be installed all of the original .dlls of version 9.0 must be in place in the Modules folder. To restore the original 9.0 AI_PLAYR.dll insert the FS9 #2 CD into your drive and open the MSGAME3.CAB. All the original 9.0 .dlls are in this .CAB. Simply find the AI_PLAYR.dll and extract it to your Modules folder. Now try the 9.1 install again. You must first delete the "BACKUP" folder that might now be in your main FS9 folder (check for it before again attempting the 9.1 install). You might have other modules that have been "modified" and will get the same kind of "unable to install 9.1 update" message. Simply follow the same procedure outlined above for replacing those "modified" .dlls with the original 9.0 versions from MSGAME3.CAB.Hope this helps,Greg
January 2, 200521 yr Hello GregThanks for giving me such a prompt and explicit response to my problem. I have now successfully upgraded to V9.1 I first placed all the affected modules (two in my case: the one previously mentioned and SIM1.dll) into a backup folder outside of the main FS9 folder.I have no idea what 3rd party add-on software may have modified these files. Since I have not yet had the time run the upgraded sim and give it close look, I wonder if you can tell me from your experiences, will these 3rd party add-on programs, which may or may not have modified these files, need to be re-installed again. Any comments re post upgrade would be helpful.YoursPeter
