FS9 won't boot properly

Featured Replies

I have a problem when I start up flt sim. When I boot it up it has an error message that states that an Fssound.dll file is invallid or something like that then it sits there and does nothing. When I try and shut it down with the task manager it says it cannot because it is being debugged, well it never stops debugging. I have to shut the computer off everytime I try to run FS9. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but no luck. Any experts out seen this before. Help if you can thanks.phillyflyer

There's a module many gauges use that is called FSsound.dll--it's installed into the modules folder. Some add-ons overwrite this with an earlier version that can cause your startup aircraft to fail if it uses the gauge. Do a google search or search the library here, and you should find the most recent version. In the meantime, remove fssound.dll from your modules folder. The reason a reinstall didn't cure the problem is that uninstall will only remove MSFS dll's from the modules folder. FSSound.dll is a third party module.-John

Thanks for the reply John. I did happen to find a newer version in my modules folder, but that didn't help either. no error message but it still hangs up on the intro splashscreen window. I tossed the old Fssould.dll out but can't seem to find where to download the latest. I did the google search and it basically just directed me to discussions like this, but not where to get it. thanks for your helpPhillyflyer
