January 7, 200521 yr Hi guysI got an old monitor and itss necessary to incerase my brightness/gamma cos it's too dark.Everything seems work great until im trying to run FS.After a couple of sec's all settings are going to default and i need to incerase them again when flying (powerstrip-ctr+shift+Num+).It's a bit annoying so is there any trick to fix that?I got Radeon 9550 (omega drivers,400@500).Thx for help.
January 7, 200521 yr Do you run in full screen mode? If so, have you tried windowed mode? You may find that they are different.I use full screen and have had exactly this problem with the newer Omega drivers. I went back to an older version and I believe that I'm using version 4.96a now. The ccontol panel has separate pages for desktop and 3DFS settings. I've got the briteness and gamma up a bit for desktop and up a LOT for 3D.I also find that anti-aliasing works better for me with the older drivers. Perhaps its just me but you might want to try it. January 7, 200521 yr If you're comfortable opening up your monitor there is an adjustment on the flyback transformer for what is called the "sub-brightness". This sets the base brightnes level for the monitor. You'd set your outside knob to about 30%, then set the sub-bright for the darkest you think you might want it. Then close it back up. You'll now have adjustment from "it's just a tad too dark" all the way to "wow that's washed out" from the normal user controls located on the outside of the monitor.fyi: just got doing this to my 3year old Samsung 955DF(PSA: don't forget to discharge the storage cap for the flyback before commencing work, it bites hard!)
