Forgetful Flight Planner

Featured Replies

Because of FSNav I really hadn't explored the use of Flight Planner in FS2004 until recently. I have been using it lately and I'm enjoying it when ATC remembers me when I approach the target airport. It sure isn't rocket science. I've found that it does remember me at times and at other times ATC will let me fly right on bye the target without so much as a "how do you do." Then I find myself way too high with the need to shed 20,000 plus feet of altitude, and then relying on FSNav to get me down in proper position to land.I think I'm following all of the proper steps in the planning, printing and editing of the plan. At the beginning ATC seems to recognize me and lets me fly. The plan appears in the Garmin as it is supposed to. It's a little disconcerting to be constantly passed off many times to the same airport, or so it seems. It is more disturbing then to realize no one is saying anything to me and I'm allowed to fly right on bye the destination.Question? Is this a characteristic of the Flight Planner, or do any of you think I am overlooking an essential step in the process? :-roll

Hi,If it is a VFR plan you are on your own. If it was an IFR plan then ATC will keep track of you.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Jim,I guess that is the one thing I forgot to specify. Each of my flight plans have been IFR and I've been cleared by ATC on each flight. At least that is as I recall, but I'm going to go back to the drawing board and try the same flights and see if I might have malfunctioned in the process. This'll be in a few days because my computer is going to the shop for an upgrade on Monday morning, thanks in part to what you previously told me about your computer.Once again, thank you! :-roll
