Fokker 70, BAe 146, or...?

Featured Replies

Charter Simulated Air Freight is looking for a fast plane to supplement our all-prop fleet fleet (2 Twin Otters, 2 Dash 7s, 1 Shorts 360, 1 CV-440, 1 Cessna 172). We are considering the Fokker 70, BAe 146, and RJ85, and are thinking about the Dash 8 400Q. We'd I'd like to hear opinions on these and other suggestions. What we need:We serve the motorsports industry. Our flights involve picking up cargo (from 1 to 5,000 lbs), primarily from Orange County, CA, and delivering it to various events, landing at the closest airport (and the occaisional field or access road). We schedule flights for events and also fly on-demand.We want a plane that will provide faster service to farther destinations. Currently we either use the Dash 7 (which we really need for closer jobs) or the Convair (costs an arm and a leg to run) or, more commonly, turn the job down. Our priorities (real world): Cost (our budget dictates buying used -- er, "previously enjoyed")Good short (and, if possible, grass/gravel) field capability Speed (in the 400 kt range)Fuel economy Payload (greater than the Dash 7's 11,500 lb)Quiet operationMy priorities (sim):Detailed, high-workload panel (ie Hilmerby DC-9, BAe Panel Project 146)Real plane doesn't necessarily have to be available as all-cargoSuggestions and opinions? Thanks!Aaron Gold, Owner, CEO, chief pilot, everything elseCharter Simulated Air Freight -- "It's virtually there!"

Sounds like you are in the market for a Shorts 360!

We have one, but if you can find a way to make it carry 12,000 lbs at 450 kts for 1,500 miles or so, I'm all ears! :)Aaron
