April 16, 200521 yr I know about the real stars add-on but remember another program that ran and grabbed the current date and updated the sky to reflect it. Can somebody point me in the direction of this program? I thought I looked everywhere... thanks!
April 16, 200521 yr Alex, you're probably thinking of my AutoStar program, which is available only from my site. Among other things, it adds the brighter planets to the FS sky according to the current date. You can get it here: http://www.kline.demon.co.uk/autostar.zip Enjoy! Best regards, Chris
April 17, 200521 yr I seem to be having a problem with it, it keeps saying runtime error 53, file not found. I have fs9.1 installed on drive D:, and have tried the autostar program both on c: and d:, I followed the directions but nothing works. Help!
April 17, 200521 yr Hi Alex, Sorry to hear you're having problems. Here are some things to check:1. Do you get the error as soon as you try to run the program, or does the error occur when you try to create the stars? (Almost certainly the error occurs when you try to create the stars).2. Check that the file stars_base.dat is present in the main FS directory and check the file size.3. Try switching off ALL options (i.e. uncheck them) and see if the error still occurs. If it does not occur, re-enable the options and see which one triggers the fault.4. Look in the AutoStar directory and check that there are five bitmap files (e.g. Venus.bmp) with the names of the first five bright planets, file size 11 kb.5. Check very carefully that the path to FS is entered correctly e.g. c:program filesFS2004.6. If none of the above pinpoints the problem, could you copy and paste the text from the file autostar.ini into your reply. You'll find the file in the AutoStar directory. It's a standard text file. Hopefully this will pinpoint the problem. Let me know the results and we'll take it from there! Best regards, Chris
