April 22, 200521 yr For those of you who are flying Wings of Power's excellent P-51D Mustang, there's a new repaint from a gentleman named Ron. To best describe what he's done, here's an excerpt from the Readme file (A Tale Of Two Mustangs) he generously allowed me to write:"Some historians claim the color on the Mustangs of the 375th Squadron of the 361st Fighter Group were probably blue, based on the observations of English plane spotters at the time. Indeed, several photos of Lou IV including a fairly common one with that plane leading a flight of four show what appears to be a blue pattern on the tail. However, excellent arguments were made regarding how color film negatives fade over relatively short time spans, and reprints are subject to an art director's use (or misuse) of color filters. I asked Ron if he would ever consider rendering his Lou IV in green for history's sake, and to my pleasant surprise he never hesitated. In fact, Ron went a couple steps above and beyond the call of duty..."Please, see for yourself what a fantastic job Ron has done with these two versions. I cannot recommend enough both versions of Ron's "Lou IV" Mustang; the blue-tailed one he uploaded here a little while ago, and now the more accurate green-tailed "Lou IV" in the File Library right now.Dan
