- - Question about sound.cfg for multi-engined planes - -

Featured Replies

Hello Avsimmers http://www.ifdg.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/bye.gifI decided to get me an MD-11 so I downloaded iFDGs great model.I then searched for some sounds for it and found a nice set. Out of curiosity I thought Id check out the sound.cfg and then I noticed something. As we know the MD-11 has three engines but the soundset for the MD-11 in the cfg:--------------------------------(SOUND_ENGINE)number_of_engines=2 eng1_combustion=COMBUSTION.1.00eng2_combustion=COMBUSTION.2.00eng1_jet_whine=JET_WHINE.1.00eng2_jet_whine=JET_WHINE.2.00eng1_starter=starterAeng2_starter=starterB--------------------------------Yea...its set up for a twin-jet. But what Im wondering about is this:When I start the MD-11 I get *three* different engines starting up.The #1 engine sound plays only through the left speaker, the #2 through both and #3 only through the right speaker - which is great!But...how does this happen when the sound.cfg defines a *twin* engine plane? I poked around in my other planes and sure enough I found that one my 747 sound.cfgs are also set up for 2 engines - but like the MD-11 I hear 4 distinct engines powering up.Could someone shed some light on this? Thanks lots :)
