I, not realizing it, had a KBUF scenery pack in place. I then bought the KBUF scenery from x-pane.org(which was different). Now the two packs have merged. Building on top of building. Any help would be appreciated.

Try removing the "global airports" file from your custom scenery file.  DO NOT DELETE IT, just move it out of X-Plane and see if the problem goes away.
