CTD in FS2004 Intro Screens

Featured Replies

I have had a CTD problem with FS2004 since day 1. Before loading add-ons, after loading add-ons. Before 9.1 and after 9.1. Before re-installing, after re-installing. I have tried everything over the past several months. The CTDs only happen in the Intro screens when I am navigating around the Flying Lessons, Select A Flight, and Learning Center particularly. It will crash in different places at different times. Sometimes as soon as pressing the Flying Lessons button, sometimes after selecting a specific lesson, sometimes after selecting Fly Lesson Now, etc, etc. Once I am in a plane the sim never crashes. It only crashes in the intro screens.I have a Dell Inspiron 8500 running Win XP Pro SP2. Oh yeah, it crashed before and after SP2 installation. The only thing I can think of is that I did not install in the standard C drive location. I installed in D drive. My hard drive is partitioned with a C and D drive.Help please.

It may be a sound issue. When in the intro screens, there's a faint yet audible "click" when you select a button, etc... Try turning your sound acceleration down a bit and see what happens. In the old, old days, such issues also happened if an IRQ was shared between two periphs.-John
