New PC with new OS, but probable issue with Internet

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

Finally got my new system up and running and it seems everything is good and working well.

I'm totally new to Windows 7 (64-Bit) so maybe someone can help me out. I'm using a USB modem for my internet connection. It's not much but it does the job and for me it's enough for the time being. On my old system (Windows XP 32) it appeared to be faster than on my new system. There also appears to be large traffic in the background on my new system (Mobile Partner shows 1 MB/sec downloading), but the only download I'm aware of is Steam downloading at 120 kb/sec (Peak).

Did Windows 7 install something that is causing this huge traffic transfer, which is extremely reducing my download transfer?? It's getting a little frustrating and I'm looking forward for some potential solutions.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Chris
