Help! No atc sound!!!!

Featured Replies

Hi ive installed and re installed fs2004 many times but i still cant get any atc sound, ive checked the boxes and everything but its not working, the text shows up to, also the defult planes have no sound either!

The same thing happened to me once.I'm going to presume that your sound works in other applications. The simplest thing to try first would be to rename fs9.cfg to something else. Some apps (MS included) don't completely remove everything even if you choose REMOVE ALL (or Uninstall).Another thing to try is to completely remove the directories as well as the FS directory under Application Data. It's a pain in the butt because you have to reinstall your addons. After you've done that, reinstall completely from scratch with no add-ons and see what happens.

The probable cause of this is corrupted audio CODEC's in Windows. The solution is to uninstall and reinstall the CODEC's from your original Windows CD. These files are part of the Operating System, not a part of FS.If you're unsure of how to do this, go to the Microsoft website and search the Knowledge Base for "Q177252". The title of this item is "Flight Simulator: No Instructor, Pilot, or ATC Voices ..... ". Often, this problem will also affect the jet engine sounds.Good luck. Please let us know what worked for you.Regards,JerryH
