Grey view in fullscreen mode

Featured Replies

I just reinstalled FS2004. I did it the same as always, a full and complete install to the HD. I haven't ever had ANY problems with this program, it's been bulletproof. Til now, at least. Let's see... OK, P4/3.6g 1Gb memory Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600 video. Always worked smoothly, acceptable fluid frames with everything 90% of WFO. I only run in fullscreen mode, that is, Alt-enter with no menu at top of screen. It works just fine windowed, all screens, I rul entirely the VC modes, almost never the 2D cockpits, and I love that fullscreen. Well, this install went fine, and seemed OK, yet when I hit alt-enter I saw grey. Grey! Gaaahhh! OK, I hit S a few times, and still grey in fullscreen, works fine windowed. I hit 'Escape' and for a fraction of a second I see the aircraft as I shouldm but then back to grey. Not black, just grey, as though a wall or something in the way. OK, the system is still set in the resolution I'd been using it in, system set at 1024x768x32, and that's the res I run FS2004 in as well. I zoomed in and out, switched a lot of things, trying to make that grey go away. No luck. I've run out of things to try, and I'm very frustrated. I don't want to run in windowed mode, I don't want to have to settle for that menu always up top, I can 'alt' for that. I don't know where or who else to ask, so I hope one of you experienced people out there will help a gal that's using this sim to seriously learn to fly, I'll get licensed one day, and my instructor was pleased that I came with so much skill already, gained from just flying the compooter. I would like to say I hope no one else has had this frustrating problem, buuuttt... well, if you did, I hope you fixed it, and can tell me how. Oh, still the same system setups as before, I just replaced a drive and reinstalled the sim. No other changes made. I wait anxiously for a reply, and thanks for your time. -Silkie O.

Try deleting your fs9.cfg--let MSFS rebuild it. See if that helps the issue. Before you reinstalled, did you delete ALL traces of FS9?-John
