August 8, 200520 yr When I load Fs9 it takes me into Spot Viw, I'm not sure if this is the Default view or if that's how I leave it :) Anyway, the distance shown in Views is 001.00 - which is too far away for my liking - I know I can alter it but it would be nice if I could get the opening view at a distance of 001.50. Is there any way I can modify the Fs9 Config file to achieve it?KenSomerset, England
August 8, 200520 yr It sounds like you have saved a different default flight since spot view is not the default when you install FS9. To see what flight is your default, first locate the FS9.CFG file (see the FAQ in this forum for instructions) and open it in Notepad. Look for the line that starts with "Situation=". It should give you the path to the default flight. Then, just open that file (it should have a .FLT extention) in Notepad and look for the section that starts with "[Window.1]". If you look at the entries in this section you will see the zoom levels for various views. (e.g., "SpotZoom=001.00"). You can change the value to something of your own liking. You can also change the default view when you load the file my changing the "ViewMode=" line to either Cockpit, Virtual, Tower or Spot.Note, however, that this will only change the default for that one flight file. If you open other saved flights you will get the zoom level specified in them.
August 10, 200520 yr Hi tdragger,Sorry to have been so long answering, took me a while to find my default flight; it was under fs9/flights/other. Then I've been 'breaking in a new Logitek keyboard/mouse, it's working now!Yes, everything worked just as you explained, even changed the default date, so that was a bonus. Then I moved over to Saved Flights and was able to change Spot view for those. Of course, as you said, as soon as you change views you are back to square one again; still the Opening scene is as I wanted it.Thanks very much for your help, much appreciated.KenSomerset, England
