AFS World & Mosaic v2 and GEP

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently updated my current FS9 machine with GTX960 display adapter to get rid of old GTX560 Ti. Before that my good old setup has been almost untouched since 2011.

But now I also decided to begin tune FS9 it with some trials of FSGRW to possible replacement of Active Sky Evolution for weather. Then got idea to try AFS World & Mosaic v2 for possible texture replacement. Currently Ground Environment Pro and Flight Environment is in use.

My question is that, is it necessary to remove GEP completely to avoid any conflicts between AFS texture sets? I actually installed World & Mosaic without doing anything for GEP. (I of course took backup from Scenery/World/Texture folder before installation). Just few test flights done around Norway ENHF (Norway scenics and Quality Mesh installed) and I can see definitely difference with density of autogen and textures, but currently not sure is there still something blended with other addons mentioned. Is there risk that some textures displayed from GEP and some from AFS. Or does AFS world & mosaic really overwrite all necessary same textures which ie. GEP writes also.

I have understand that GEP writes textures globally so If no any textures are touched via GEP or other tool which co-operates with it, those AFS installed ones will remain active until some actions are taken via GEP?

There is quite little of documention about AFS World & Mosaic, but looks like it only installs stuff into Scenery/World/Texture, except that B747 folder.

at least one test installation into machine without any fs9 leads to Scenery/World/Texture folder with 3,657 files. Not sure does World & Mosaic any modifications into

sky and cloud textures, but if does I suggest that Flight Environment will overdrive those when used.

Regards,

Otso
