Cloud shimmer

HI,I've noticed that sometimes I get a shimmering effect at the cloud base - with clouds that are close to the ground. I am using the HiFPS v2 cloud set by the FSW Group and like the realism of the clouds and the fast loading.I have the latest version of FSUIPC by Pete Dowson and have left the clouds at their default settings. I've also played around with changing AA, MIP, and Render to Texture settings in FS2004. Sometimes, I also get some low clouds on a clear day that have a dark grey border around them.My computer system is an elderly one: - Dell 4300 - 3.0 CPU - 512 memory - Nvidia 5200 video card( I know, old video card but still kicking). I have my FPS locked at 25 and usually get 19 to 24 FPS. When running FS2004, I disable screen saver, firewall, and several other programs that usually run in the background.I can live with these things but thought I'd ask to see if anyone else has the same problem and ask for any suggestions as why this happens. I never noticed these in the past - probably because I usually fly IFR in the "soup." It has just been recently that I started flying in VFR conditions - to see some sights. It's more relaxing for me to fly VFR than [email protected]

Unfortunately, I think it's just a function of the age of your equipment. The interaction between sky and ground textures requires a huge amount of graphics processing power, which your rig just doesn't have. Allcott
