October 11, 200520 yr Most of the time, my Meljet 777 engines texture is not loading for different aircrafts. Rest of the aircraft texture loads fine, but it's always the engines missing the paint. Strangely, it is not always the same. Some few times, it loads ok for some paints. I did search the forum and increased TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT in my cfg file. But still the issue remained.Appreciate help.thankssrini
October 11, 200520 yr I believe I have the answer for you Srini.MelJet's 777s come in three flavors:Pratt and Whitney PW4090 enginesGeneral Electric GE90-77B enginesRolls Royce Trent 877 enginesThe texture folder reveals what type of engine the textures are designed for; lok for textures named Powerplant-GE90-Exterior_T, Powerplant-PW4090-Exterior_T, and Powerplant-RRTrent800-Exterior_T.These files represent the model needed for your textures. For example, if your Delta Airlines repaint has the texture file "Pwerplant-RRTrent800-Exterior_T.bmp", then it goes with the MelJet 777-200 Rolls Royce model.I have all of my MelJet 772s in one aircraft folder, with three model folders, three sound folders, and the aircraft.cfg edited to match. The model folders are required to seperate the models so FS9 knows which one to load. Here's an example, with the afformentioned Delta Airlines livery, in my aircraft.cfg file:[fltsim.3]<---square brackets of course!title=Boeing 777-232ER Delta Air Lines NCsim=Boeing777-200-MR-MKIIImodel=rrpanel=sound=rrtexture=dalui_manufacturer=Boeingui_type=777-200ui_variation=Delta Air Linesatc_id=N863DAatc_airline=Deltaatc_flight_number=264atc_heavy=1description=Delta Air Lines NC Boeing 777-232 Extended Range with Rolls Royce Trent 877 engines. So, I have this particular bird focused on the Rolls Royce model file (model.rr), the RR sound file and the DAL texture folder.Make sure that the textures are covering the appropriate model, and you should be all set! October 11, 200520 yr Jeremy, thanks for the details. Infact, i too understand this and have it setup similarly infact with one more indirection. I have installed sound and panels into a seperate directory called "my_addons". But anyway, what i am wondering why you need 3 separate "model" folders? What is different in your model.rr and model.ge directories? Aren't they both have the same files? I have mine setup as below:[0] //for Varig with GE enginesmodel=panel=gsalossound=ge90texture=varig[1] //for american with RR enginesmodel=panel=gsalossound=rr_trenttexture=aal[2] //varig with GE engines and dxt3 texturesmodel=panel=gsalossound=ge90texture=dxt3-varigAs you can see each has a seperate texture directory that has the correct textures including ge engines for Varig and RR engines for American. Only difference is..i have a single model directory (since model is the same for all) and all of them are pointing at it. From what i undestand, Meljet model directory contains the Boeing777-200-MR-MKIII and it's cfg file and it is the same for all 3 engine types. It only changes for each class (200, 300, 200ER and 300ER) of 777 aircraft and not for each engine type. Correct me if i am wrong. Anyway, I will try with seperate model directory for each, but i guess that is not necessary from what i understand. thankssrini
October 11, 200520 yr Jeremy,i tried with 3 different model directories (all have the same files since they are all 777-200ER type) and with modified aircraft.cfg file like yours. And as i guessed, it did not work. If my theory is correct, you too don't need 3 different model directories. Instead, just try removing the other two, and renaming your "model.rr" to just "model" and then in your aircraft.cfg, change the model=rr lines to model= and my guess is it will work for you.So, it is something funky going on in loading engine textures rather than the configuration..Please correct me if i am thinking wrong..-srini
October 11, 200520 yr Hi Jeremy,YES YOU ARE CORRECT.I made an incorrect assumption that the model files are the same for all engine variations. But that is INCORRECT. I went to meljet site and downloaded the base packs for ge and rr and the .mdl file to be different for GE and RR. I thought i have compared them carefully before, but guess I WAS WRONG. Thanks for highlighting this glaring error in my understanding. I have now two seperate model directories for ge and rr seperately and the engine textures are loading fine now.Yes, you had a solution for me :-) and please ignore the chatter in my previous posts.thankssrini
October 12, 200520 yr :-lol No problem, sorry I was away. Yes, the model files are different.:DI'm glad you got it working, Srini, that's what I like to see! Now have fun flying them:)-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!Pilot-The friction locks are causing the throttle levers to stick.Mechanic- Umm, that's what they're there for...
