Some sort of notepad for AFS2 and Rift?

Anyone knows about available software that gives you something like a notepad in AFS2 when you are using the Rift? I only know about Virtual Desktop but that seems a rather 'heavy' option and I don't even know if you can actually call that one up during a flight...? I notice I need some sort of ingame notepad to 'write' things down like VOR freqs and radials, headings, etc. on. Switching to the menu in AFS2 or taking off the Rift kills the immersion...
