Alphasim C-5B

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,I'm looking for some information on the Alphasim C-5B Galaxy. I was thinking about making the purchase, but when I took a look at the screenshots for the VC... it did not appear that the Tape Gauges were working in the VC.. then again.... the aircraft could have been cold and dark.Anyone have this add-on? Would you recommend it? And how is the night lighting and gauge refresh rate in the VC?Any input is surely appreciated! Thanks!Steve New Jersey

I own the C-5 and the Tape Gauges work. Outstanding night lighting too and no problems with gauge refresh rates in the VC for me. But like most FS9 aircraft, you need a fairly powerful system. I had a 2.2 GHz system with one gig of RDRAM and it worked great. I upgraded to a 3.6 GHz system this year and it runs great. One of my favorite aircraft I fly. The animations in this aircraft are stunning! I really like the textures for the white and gray model too. I have never been in a real C-5 cockpit (just flown in the passenger area) so can't attest to the accuracy of the panel/cockpit but I recall reading somewhere that it was very realistic. I think it's a great military addon for anyone's hanger. I have ActiveCamera and it's a lot of fun to just walk around this aircraft on the ground and marvel at the detail. Hope this helps.Merry Christmas!Jim

Hi Jim,Thank you so much for the info! I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+, 2GB of Pc3200 Ram and the ATI Sapphire PCI Express 512MB of Vram.. yadda..yadda.. yadda...I can run the PMDG 747 VC at max gauge refresh with all the scenery add-ons just fine... usually 22-30 FPS (Maxed at 32)Seems the PMDG/PSS add-ons are the measuring sticks these days for performance. So I figure if I can run those panels with no problem... I should be able to run most everything else ( I Hope!) :)I am going to go ahead and purchase this add-on thanks to your advice! Thanks much!SteveNew Jersey
