Creating FS9 "Scenery Profiles" - possible?!

Featured Replies

Hello all :)Like many of you I have a massive Addon Scenery folder filled with goodies such as FS Global, FS Genesis 38m USA mesh & misc freeware airports and sceneries. All of this results in a long startup time and also lengthy in-game load times.I find that I fly in different parts of the world and stay there for about 5 weeks or so. Right now Im flying mostly in Canada and America. So why have the sim load all that scenery for Asia, South America, Africa? You get the idea.Is it possible to create what I would call "FS9 Scenery Profiles"? So on your desktop you would have a series of FS9 icons to start your sim. Like this:FS9 - Whole WorldFS9 - Canada FS9 - USAFS9 - Central AmericaFS9 - AsiaFS9 - EuropeWhere each FS9.exe would only load a certain part of the world. My guess it has something to do with a lot of editing in the scenery.cfg? Im not at all sure and thought I would put this to you gurus :)Thanks much!

If you're a batch file type of guy, you could write a batch or command file to load the sim which takes a known scenery.cfg and renames it. I.E.Here's an example for fs9asia.bat@echo offcd c:program filesmicrosoft gamesflight simulator 9del scenery.cfgcopy scenery.asia scenery.cfgfs9Problem is, only the scenery loads for your selected location at startup. Other factors, such as the amount of aircraft installed, may be delaying startup more. I start MSFS at Bozeman, Montana. Nothing there in the sim except beautiful mountains and fluffy clouds. It takes less than a minute for the sim to start and my HD ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.-John
