February 12, 200620 yr Hi all,I read in a recent post that flying at night is more taxing to the computer than flying in daytime. While I have noticed that this is true (i.e. I usually get lower FPS in nighttime), I still can't figure out the reason behind this. Are night textures that much harder to render than day ones? I just got home from a RW LHR-ATH flight and it was a beautiful night all across Europe, with great visibility and clear moonlit skies. Goes without saying that my first thought was that I need to do more night flying in FS9;) Brgds,Miltos
February 12, 200620 yr because at night, all objects use double the amount of textures. your airplane has a lightmap texture, thus it uses the regular texture and the light map. thus, 2x the textures for your computer to deal with
February 12, 200620 yr Yeah, I suspected that night textures are sort of loaded on top of the day ones. Thanks for confirming this.Brgds,Miltos
