February 28, 200620 yr I recently purchased Ground Environmet and my first impressions were amazement. I have a h8/3.0, 1GB ram, Gforce6800GT 256mb vid card and mainly fly LDS 767. I also have UT and BEV (which I recently deleted). It seems as though the dreaded blurries pop up more than ever. I never used to have this until I started using BEV and UT (more so BEV) and now GE. I had the problem get worse when I did my first flight with GE. After my instalation, I did a hop in the 767 at KSEA. I took off, flew around the city and landed back. Things seemed fine at this point. The problem occurred at my first flight. The textures and views are amazing flying low, but as I get higher, I get blurrier. When I accelerate time, the blurries seem to pop up. I tried changing time an hour later and the blurries dissappeared at first, but slowly came back. I noticed this all on a flight from KATL-KRSW. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Here is my Fs9.cfg: Any advice would be great. February 28, 200620 yr Did you defrag after installing? That would be a must with so many new textures. You want them to load as efficiently as the ones before them.-John
February 28, 200620 yr I am not the most tech savoy guy in the world... What do I need to do to defrag? Thanks!BZ
February 28, 200620 yr Assuming you have Win Xp and MSFS is installed on drive "C":Close ALL running programs1) Open up "My Computer"2) Right-Click on Drive C3) Select "Properties"4) Select the "Tools" tab5) Choose "Defragment Now"-John
February 28, 200620 yr Yes, a defrag could fix this. The textures should not cause any direct issues with blurries or loading times. It maybe the the very dense autogen we have made does have a slight affect on your system? Try the slider down a notch and you'll probably still get much more autogen than the defaults. But most important first run defrag.....
February 28, 200620 yr Besides the recommendations provided by John CI, Peter, and BZ, you might check your scenery config. Based on recommendations from scenery "experts" over the past year, UT should be below the Aerial Photos in your scenery library. For instance, you have Dallas Aerial Photo scenery, Los Angeles Aerial Photos, etc., and they should be at a number lower than UT. UT should be near the bottom in the scenery library and the aerial photos above. Hope this makes sense. Also, make sure your scenery.cfg is not "corrupted" (i.e., Areas/Layers numbers do not match and are not in numerical sequence).Jim Young
