Question about GE install

Featured Replies

Peter or someone with GE. What's this talk about having to install the default FS9 texture from the CD to get GE to work correctly ? I just read a few threads elswhere and was wondering. Thanks, Dan

Hi there,It's always the safest way to put your default textures back in.But - here is what my advice is you do;1. run the GE configurator - and make a backup of your current sceneryworldtexture folder from within the "backup manager menu" - (from that same menu - you can easily restore your backup folder)2. exit the GE config - open your CD4 folder and open SCENERYWORLD.CAB with any zip utility, then extract all files from the "texture" folder into your sceneryworldtexture3 - run the GE config and select Global Coverage Day and/or any other option you prefer (night is recommended) and after you selected you additional desired options ; click on "install selected options"regards,

Thanks for the response. I have other textures installed aswell, FSG, UT and some add-ons like Misty ect. Will this mess up those ?Thanks,Dan

"I have other textures installed aswell, FSG, UT and some add-ons like Misty ect. Will this mess up those ?"Short answer: No.Ultimate Terrain has its own scenery folder and is listed in your scenery library.FSG uses .bgl's and they are placed in your Scenery/World/Scenery folder (GE is in the Texture folder). All your add-on's like Misty have their own scenery folders and are listed separately in your scenery library/scenery.cfg.Hope this helps.Jim

Thanks Jim, I'll give it a go, but backing up first. Learned that lesson once before ;)Thanks, Dan K
