Possible Cause for VBlurries / GE?

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if this could be a reason for the blurries, but I thought I should ask. In the past, I have never been plagued by them. I run a system that is h8/3.0, 1gb, 100gb hd, nvidia 6800gt 256 video card with a 68.xx driver. I tried to install the latest drivers, but got black crashes almost every time I loaded the sim. The blurries I get can be described as "jagged blurries (especially on rivers water, and roads)". When looking at them closely, you can see the little squares. It almost looks (though and exaggeration) like old Atari graphics. While looking out the window, the textures seem to load from blank squares, to blurry, to somewhat clear as time progresses. This never used to happen. Keep in my, while on the ground, my textures are clear and crisp. While in FS here is what I am running:AS6RCv4LDS767FSHotFXGround EnvironmentUltimate TerrainUltimate TrafficI defragged my HD to realize that I only have about 19% HD space left. Can the problem be that I am running too much at once? Would deleting files to free hd space possibly solve this? Remember, I never had these blurry textures in the past. It seems like the more I install, the more they appear. I have tried going left on some of the sliders but that did not solve anything. I am not sure how to do screen shots, otherwise I would. But I can tell you that what I am seeing, does not make me enjoy FS!Brad

Brad,OK, this may get moved by the mod to the hardware forum. Here are some things to consider, from what you posted.1. What was the last thing you did before the problem occured? a. Did you do a "Restore Point" (XP)? Tried to go back to it? b. Can you uninstall the last program installed for FS? c. Tried rolling back the video drivers, checked nVidia's web site for driver uninstall/rollback?2. 19% free space on a hard drive is a concern in my opinion. The reason is what your swap file is set at. It may grow beyond the drives safe capability (a standard is 85%)and cause many problems, and the first thing would be file corruption, then crashes. 3. Run FS without any addon's, like ASV6. When I install something new on my sim, I use the default 172, at the default KSEA to test. I always make a restore point before adding anything. Oh, some will say, don't use XP Restore, but I cannot see a performance improvement by not having it.Hope this at least gets you started.

I used XP Restore 2 weeks ago and some of the shotrtcuts on my desktop like the 767-300, ATR-500 and Ultimate Traffic and Flight Environment configuration icon did nothing when clicked on. Also, when selecting Map or GPS I get the dreaded CTD! The only software I have installed is the new Ground Environment. I reinstalled the configurators and FE and GE and most of the sim is now OK but I still can't get the Map or the GPS. I don't really want to play around with the restore anymore but I guess I'll probably have to re-install FS9 to get the Map and GPS - With all the Addons thats a job for the whole weekend!!Kev

Tried rolling back the video drivers, checked nVidia's web site for driver uninstall/rollback? - I believe the problem started when I tried to install FS Scene that I realized was on my PC, but was not installed correctly. After noticing my mistakes, I installed it. However, when loading the sim, I would get a CTD around 60% during the loading process. I reinstalled my original FS textures using a tool that restores the originals from the CD. After that, I was able to get through without crashing. Soon after I realized that I didn't really want FSScene and went to GE. I also uninstalled and installed Ult Terrain again. I was able to fly, but I started noticing the blurries here. Things have gotten worse visually as time progresses. I installed the latest driver and would get a black crash every time. I went back to an old driver that worked well on my pc. I have not done a restore point, and do not know how to do that. Can you explain? If I did that to about 3 months ago, do I lose all my data after that point?2. 19% free space on a hard drive is a concern in my opinion. The reason is what your swap file is set at. Do you suggest deleting anything that is unncessary to free some extra space? Or will that not do anything beneficial?3. Run FS without any addon's, like ASV6. Meaning on t/o I can look out the windows and and things look good. However they deteriorate.
