limit visibility without haze on the ground textures ?

Featured Replies

hi, when i clear all weather settings via FSUIPC i get this wonderful high contrasts on the ground textures. when i use the vis limit settings (clear cloudy o/c rainy) of FSUIPC there is always haze generated on my ground textures and they lose all the wonderful contrast. i tried playing with the fs9 weather vis settings and the ASv6 vis settings but no success so far.what i want is some nice clear day with big clouds and some limited visibility to like 60 sm (so the badly rendered texture areas on the horizon disappear) but with maximum contrast on the ground textures (no haze, no fog).can anyone help me with my task ?regards, tom.

Hi Tom,Fog Layer Generation and Depict FS9 Haze Layer both Off in ASv6?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Jim, yes both are unchecked in ASv6. Did you try it yourself Jim ? like some Broken Clouds at 8000feet, visibility limited to 60nm with nicely faded out horizon (no cloud or mesh artifacts) AND with maximum ground texture contrast ? I will try every setting you suggest but somehow its impossible or im just incapable.regards, tom.

Hi,Sure, but there is an FS04 limit to how far ground textures are shown crystal clear.Maybe this will help:TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.990000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=3.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

For what it's worth, it actually is more realistic to have the ground be hazy and dull, and in real life I don't believe you can see the ground in full contrast at altitudes higher than a few thousand feet (in 99% of cases anyway).Having said that, there is no way to have both bright, colorful ground and have the horizon be hazy because FS doesn't model vertical visibility independently of horizontal visibility. Your only option in this case would be to go to your display options screen and set max draw distance to 60 miles. This is a bit different than max visibility, in that it doesn't affect visibility but simply won't render anything beyond the distance that you set here.
