April 30, 200620 yr since i'm coming up short on fuel when going by what the navlog says when using the "default" flightplanner i'm wondering if the amount of fuel is for EACH tank instead of splitting it 3 ways say for the 737, which is what i've been doing. it's supposed to be for the entire flight , i thought, but am coming up short anyway. if it's for each tank then the problem's solved if not then i have to add but for what? taxi, climb, cruise, decent or all the above. thanks, william
April 30, 200620 yr When taking what the navlog says I usually have plenty, but it depends on the winds. The number doesn't take strong headwinds into account, if you expect those take more.It also doesn't take the legal 30 minute (or 45 minute for IFR, 60 minute night) into account.
April 30, 200620 yr i must be missing something but thanks anyway. i just made my own calculations in a crude way. maxed out fuel and loadout weight then taxied around KJFK, a good size airport, to my takeoff runway and wrote down the fuel used. included setup time too. then flew up to 36,000ft and took note of fuel used. i can find out the alternate reserve fuel to add. it should work good enough. thanks, william
