June 5, 200620 yr Hi All,I thought I would ask for some help in here because I have been scratching my head so much I'm getting splinters under my finger nails.heres whats happening,I did a full format yesterday, and re-installed Win XP Pro with SP2, after installing my Mobo drivers.I downloaded the CAT6.5 drivers from ATI, and also installed the MS .net framework first.I then installed FS9, and the 9.1, then fired up FS9, it went through the "creating database" and "generating scenery etc" then I saw the splash screen for a few seconds, then it just disappeared, and I was looking at my desktop.I don't want to sound big headed, but I do know how to install things properly, and in the correct order, but this has me beat completely now.and this is a Clean Install, No add-ons whatsoever.I appreciate any help whatsoever, and it would be very welcome.Mobo:ABIT IC7Max3, 1024MB of Corsair Extreme, ATI X850 XT PE.I can confirm that the drivers are installed correctly, and so is the .net, and I can open up the catalyst control panel without any issues, it just goes downhill from there.
June 5, 200620 yr I suggest you remove the FS9.cfg, restart the sim and let FS9 rebuild it. Possibly it had trouble identifying your video card during the install. Best regards,JimYoung
June 5, 200620 yr Hi Jim,well, I was going to do just what you suggested, but, before I do this I thought I would go and take a look at the .cfg myself, well, at the line where it has the standard size screen setting the first time you run FS, it said the usual 800x600 etc, so, I changed this to 1280x960x32 the same as my desktop,I then tried FS again, this time it went through the same process, but I caught a glimps of the menues at the top of the screen inside FS, but then it went back to desktop once more.I will try an older version of the CAT ATI drivers, and see what happens, but I was running these 6.5's before the format, so I'm not convinced that this is the cause.thanks again for the thought.
