Scenery addons question

Featured Replies

I'm confused. If I am adding new scenery to FS9/Scenery/World/Texture for example, and the instructions say "rename all textures with the letters 'xxxx' in them to something else by "simply" renaming them to [ *BKUP.bmp ]," I have been putting files that are being replaced (when there are several of the same type, when "xxxx" is "roads" for example) into a folder and calling it "xxxx bkp", because that is simpler than renaming each file. I assumed that the folder name cloaks the files and they are not read. Is that correct? Or do I have to change each individual file name inside the folder to [ *BKUP.bmp ]" as well? So:1) Are Scenery/World/Texture files still read if they are in a folder with the "xxxxbkp" name IF THEIR NAMES REMAIN UNCHANGED? Or do I have to change each individual file name? 2) Is the same true for files I have replaced and stored in "xxxxbkp" folders in other main folders like addon scenery or its subfolders? ThanksRobI know the rule is to stick with one issue per post, but these questions are closely related....

I think renaming them is just for backup purposes as opposed to overwriting them, so you can just cut the files from the folder and paste them somewhere else for safekeeping, without even renaming them, and then if you have any problems you can always replace them again.I could be wrong but thats what is sounds like to me.Paul.
