CTD with FSUIPC 3.60

Featured Replies

From time to time it seems like gremlins get into my system. Usually inadvertantly invited by my own actions and most times these are simply resolved, and I learn about computing in the process. This last one was particularly frustrating and I'd like to do what I can to share what I learned.Firstly, FSUIPC is great, so please don't misunderstand. But I believe that the last version, 3.60, should be replaced by the new 3.65 if you are experiencing CTD.My "Commit Charge" continued to inch upwards as noted on the process page of the task manager until the inevitable CTD. I did what has become a routine of debugging, processing my AI using ACA2005v1.2, checking scenery with Flight Sim Manager, checking aircraft integrity with MRAI setup, and disabiling any recent add-ons, and even a rename reinstall (a la Golden Wings). All to no avail (but I did clean up my installation quite a bit).By chance, I noticed that I had installed 3.60 on 5/29, about when the CTD problem became significant. No problem, went to Pete Dowson's page at http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html downloaded the new file and though I'm probably still overtaxing my system, the CTD from the commit charge creep has been fixed. If anyone else is dealing with a mysterious CTD situation, try the new 3.65 FSUIPC. If that's not it, I recommend you try the other techniques I did as they have helped me in the past.
