Award for service to the AVSIM community? A first nominee

Featured Replies

I recall reading recently that AVSIM announced a sponsor for their awards banquent at the upcoming Annual Conference. I don't know if the banquest features an appreciation award for the community member (non AVSIM moderator) with the best service to the AVSIM online community but, of not, I'd like to propose one and to make a first nomination: Reggie Fields. Try something interesting some time and pull up any of Reggie's 600-plus postings here (or in other forums I track). He is a living SDK concerning AFCADs, AI, scenery, and several other topics. His (often bulleted) replies to frustrated users are thorough, authoritative, and a nice balance between technobabble and plainspeak. Reading his posts has saved my tail on more than few occasions or simply enhanced my understanding of the potential and limitations of MSFS. I have NEVER seen him post in a surly or arrogant way, even to "difficult" posters and he diligently avoids being drawn into personal attacks or threads that degenerate into flames. Reggie's posts always proudly boast of his connection to Addison, TX. I can't imagine the circumstances that would drag a northeasterner like myself down to that part of the world, but if the opportunity arises that i find myself in Addison (whereever that is!) I will but him the beverage of his choice. There are other potential nominees I might mention but I will leave it to others to post those here and show their appreciation to them as well.
