When I switched from windowed view the screen turned black and fs stopped responding, no crash, but it did not respond, it stayed black until I ended the process and the cursor would keep changing to an hourglass and back to an arrow very fast when I put the mouse over the black fs screen. It was over water so there was no addon scenery closeby and I use the default fs water textures.

Hey Jim,Its an ati Radeon x800 xt platinum edition, catalyst driver verson 6.6.

Not a fix, but a workaround. When the black screen appears, hit the ALT key and go into display settings. Check the AA and hit ok. This should allow you to get back to full screen in FS then you can uncheck the AA if you like.
