V4.3 Drops Fps & Blurry Textures compared to V4.2

Featured Replies

( I have also posted on the LM Forum)

I recently updated Prepar3D from the good v4.2 to v4.3 (bad?)

Now with the new version i have with same settings and addons (only orbx) many drops framerate whit change view
and i see blurry textures.

I use original prepar3d.cfg with only 2 edit:

OPAQUE_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=4096 (defaul 2048)
LOD_RADIUS=9.5 (default 6.5)

I use very high settings 4K (almost maximum) but with v4.2 work very well (without blurry), min 30fps max 60/70fps, with 4.3 drops min 18/20fps and i see blurry!
I know that many users have same problems with blurry texture and drops fps with last v4.3.

My pc:

Cpu I7 6700k
Gpu 1080 Ti
Ram 16gb 3200mhz
ssd 1tb evo
win 7

If i can not find the solution, i come back to v4.2, i hope in the next version 4.4!

There is a long thread about "blurries" here (with various solutions):

Increasing OPAQUE_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE will put more stress on your GPU.

LOD_RADIUS=9.5 will not work, it is capped to 6.5, any value beyond that is not used

In summary, you will need to use TFR=XX (some value) and do NOT use TFR=Unlimited.  (TFR is Target Frame Rate).  If TFR is set to a value other than Unlimited (i.e. 29,30,31), then FFTF (FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION) will default to 0.33.  You can adjust the 0.33 value, lower values = higher FPS but will create blurries and AG issues, higher values = lower FPS but no blurries or AG issues.  You'll need to find a balance that works for you.

TFR = Unlimited can still be used, but you'll need to drop your AG settings down to Medium and not use High resolution terrain.

Cheers, Rob.
