August 30, 200619 yr Hi all...with all the scenery mods out there for FS9..both freeware and payware, which ones do you recommend to have the best looking scenery? I saw an ad for FsGenesis and for Ground Environment Pro.What is the diff between the two? It seems to me that FsGenesis deals mostly with better dem data and Ground Environment deals with better looking ground and sky textures. Am i correct? If i am...do you use these two together to get the best looking scenery or is there other addons which are better that i'm not aware of. I want to achieve the best possible scenery i can in FS9...what do you guys recomend? Also i'm talking about the FS9 world as a whole...not just localized areas. Thanx
August 30, 200619 yr Yes, you're pretty much correct. FSGenesis is Mesh, GE Pro is Textures. There's all kinds of addons out there. But my recommendation is the following...Payware:Flight Enviroment (Water Enviroment files and textures, Sky, Cloud, Moon, and I think Sun textures)Ground Enviroment Pro (Ground Textures)FSGenesis Mesh + Worldwide Buffer Mesh + USA Landclass (note: Other than the Worldwide Buffer Mesh, I personally only have FSGenesis Mesh and Landclass installed for the Continental USA)In addition to the following freeware...Airport Enviroment Upgrade 7.0 - aeu7.zip (If you get a little pause every time an airport comes into view then I recommend using DXTBmp(freeware) to remove the mip-maps. Totally cured the problem for me, and this addon by Chris Arrington is worth it.)FS Sky World 2004 - http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=219 (unless you decide to purchase Flight Enviroment or the Weather Program called Active Sky 6(ASV6). FS Sky World 2004 is for cloud textures)Koorby Gen Lite - koorbygen_lite.zip (dressed up textures for some buildings, similar to what AEU7 does for airports)Round External View flare - flare.zip (instead of the default hexagonal flare)Lit Roads - litroads.zip (if you want roads with lots of car lights on them at night)Hope that helps
August 31, 200619 yr Thanx Tin...helps quite a bit. I'm going to check out the other add-ons you listed. Very grateful for your informative reply.Regards
August 31, 200619 yr Plus if your world is not limited to the United States of America I would also suggest other brilliant addons:- payware Ultimate Terrain Europe (makes the whole Europe something much much different)- freeware VOZ (making Australia a magic place)- freeware photoreal textures of the Moon (made by a Japanese author for FS2002, but still working, you'll find it in the AVSIM library)Best regards,Rafal
