August 12, 200619 yr Hi guysI should propably be adding this info to the general ORGANIZED thread, but I am afraid that it will "drown" there.I was slewing around in the demo, testing one of my own buildings designed for FS9, when I accidentally bumped into one af the small autogen houses in the vicinity. And then I discovered that it had textures ON THE INSIDE as well: It seems that all the one and two storey autogen buildings are using this kind of double sided material. Imagine the impact on FSX performance when our poor machines also have to deal with these extra surfaces which are completely useless.I really hope that someone from the ACES dev. team sees this, if they haven't found the error themselves within the past few days!
August 12, 200619 yr I think you may be onto something here! :-beerchug If i go to Saba island and turn autogen to max i get smooth 30fps. On saba there are no autogen buildings just trees. If i go somewhere else that has autogen buildings then i get stutters.Does anyone want to confirm this (that autogen buildings cause stutters but not the trees)? BTW Im running everything maxed (including autogen), except no AI traffic (air/ground/sea).
August 12, 200619 yr Thats a good find. The fS9 autogen is single sided.I can't think of anyreason why they would want double sided faces. At least the polys haven't been cloned & flipped judging by the light/normals. Looks like a Max DS_Material.
August 12, 200619 yr JuiceRabbit, I also get much more stutters where it's many autogen buildings, than where it only is trees!
August 12, 200619 yr They would want double sided surfaces for things like fences where you only have to draw two polygons to get a rectangle, rather than a box. I think the difference is that polygons that are visible on both sides need to be draw on both sides but polygons that enclose a space (like a building) where the internal polygons are never seen, do not need to be draw.
