August 8, 200619 yr John Carmack (the head developer at id software) gave an hour and a half long talk on the future of game developement at QuakeCon. Each year he generally focuses upon tasks of interest to him (graphic developement, engines, etc), but for the first part of this year's talk he spent a long time addressing the difficulty of parallelism in game code to take advantage of muli-core multi-CPU systems.
