This free donation-ware, https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmousebuttoncontrol.htm  resurrected my Microsoft Trackball Explorer in Windows 10 (now $500+ on Amazon).

The only issue is the scroll function stops working after 5 minutes or so. A game saver,for VC panning!
