Re some suggestions for the ATC vocabulary.

Featured Replies

Hi there Jason et al yet another request for you to bring up at your next team meeting. This will probably be a little more work than adding leading zeros to the runway markings but do you think you could suggest that 1 leading zeros be added so the one gets vectors to say 06 (zero six) instead of just 6 and have the above added the the ATIS as well?.Again this is standard out side of the U.S. 2nd provide hooks into the ATC voice routines so that proper names to the various ATC units I.E in Europe one does not call "center" while enroute one calls "control" I.E. London control (how ever here in Canada we do call center) But approach is called arrival in Canada and several different names in Europe I.E. director and others. So I can see that much of the "voicepack" in ATC would hve to be re-done. But if the community could really get at the voices and add to them where necessary we would all get a much richer and true to life ATC as well. So in other words ask the ATC dudes and the direct sound dudes as well if they could give us calls through an .API/SDK and the community would make the tools for others to add to the core sound functions. I work with Maya unlimited for a living and it has a great API (and what I feel is the best interface and tools set period in any 3D app) in fact it blows Max out of the water. I just hope that Autodesk leaves Maya alone as much as they can since they bought Alias last fall, anyway I am digressing. Please have the team consider the above as I and others feel the above are important. Dan Team Flight Ontario.

Hey Dan,Thanks again for the suggestion. I want to be real clear that folk here (and elsewhere) shouldn't rely on the few folk who post here to relay feature suggestions or to log bugs-- frankly that'd add way more overhead to what can already take an hour or two a day to read and respond to threads at various sites.Instead, I encourage *everybody* to send mail to:[email protected]'s an auto responded e-mail but it IS monitored by many team members from various areas.Be as clear as you can, and offer supporting evidence if you're able. (makes it easier to verify stuff)Cheers,Jason
