August 23, 20196 yr Hi everyone, I am a flight simulator customer since FS98 and thanks to that tiny bluish CD-rom my passion for flight began. In a few months I will start my ATPL and all i have to say is thank you Microsoft (and thanks daddy who bought me FS 98 while I was still 9 years old and didn't know anything about flight 🙂 ). Years passed and FS 2000, Fs2002, Fs2004 and FSX came...I bought all of them and made flights over flights, i had sleepless nights flying and i felt good. Suddenly I started noticing that some addons made flight simming experience much better, so I started buying things...my first airport was NICE (LFMN) for FSX, then I bought PMDG 737 and a few other airports, then i bought some stuff (don't remember the name now) to improve ATC, then something for AI models, then something for terrain, then REX TD for better skies and clouds and so on.. Unfortunately FSX development was dropped down so i tried X-plane 10, then switched to P3d v3 and the whole thing of buying stuff started again. Now I am on P3D v4 and I am no more buying anything because i feel tired of adjusting, spending money, tweaking things and fixing myself conflicts between addons. I just want to fly and explore new parts of the world. What I would like is to see things working fine and to see the need of buying addons reduced to minimums. With P3d today we need an add on to fix real world time, a tweak to redistribute CPU workload, a weather engine for real time weather, an add on for sky textures and cloud models, an add on for environment, an add on for every detailed airport we would like to fly to, an add on for a detailed aircraft, an add on for europe terrain (more than one to be honest), an add on for australia, an add on for north, central and south america, an add on for africa, an add on for aircraft models and many others. I appreciate LM work because they are doing a great job in keeping the development of P3D as a platform but the need of add ons and the business besides this aspect is making me sad. When I fly i would like to explore places i have never seen and see details...unfortunately now i can only explore places i have bought (default textures doesn't give a valid representation of reality) and with few details because core 0 is always saturated and FPS are not that high. I feel that server-based terrain that Microsoft wants to introduce (I guess it is server based because 2 Petabytes of data can't be stored in my PC) is a winning choice because everyone could benefit from a magnificent quality in ground textures and could appreciate world's variety without the need of spending lots of money. A thing I ask to Microsoft (if someone of the team is reading this post) is to make things great in every aspect of the sim just to reduce the need of an add on for everything. The feeling should be "set it and forget it" not "set it and fix it". Finally, I hope to be a tester and i would like to help the team by giving advices, feedbacks and testing builds. Cheers Federico
