Is it possible to add some of the default airports in FSX to FS9? I tried to add a default airport from FSX to FS9 but it didn't work. I converted the dds files to dxt3 without any problems but i'm guessing the .bgl files in FSX are different from the .bgl files in FS9?

No, uses different .bgl formats.
