My impressions FSX good and bad thoughts..

After at first wanting to throw it away over a week ago, now I do indeed love the new version X after extensive tweaking as well as updating the video drivers to my 6800 ultra inside my Dell XPS Gen 2 laptop. Overall, it's a stunning laptop for FSing.. I have found most graphics can go full right like terrain mesh and global texture quality and even ground resolution to a 2, with no frame rate loss. Even night time and clouds (3d enabled at medium density) do no harm to FR! that is a great boost over FS9, where night time on runways was horrible frame rate with landing lights. Now, it is great with the virtual cockpits (I only fly from them) and lighting etc. Special effects way up and animations. No blurries either. I have my Nvidia control panel at "let application control AA and Ansio" and have the general slider to quality , not max quality. In FS, I fly with 22 locked and get it most everywhere! Hoewever, to get that, I fly with NO AI TRAFFIC at all and sadly, as much as I love them , NO CARS ON ROADS. With cars, FR goes to 18 near roads. Also, all the lastest avsim postings on fixing autogen and adding config lines works great, the only way I have gone up to 22 locked and flyable with that... even some areas are near 30 fps if I let it go... but then some blurries occur and some small stutters, so if your machine is up to snuff, 22 seems to be a sweet spot.FSX default GA airplanes look phenomenal, yet once again the artists that did up the airliners have no experience viewing photos on airliners.net or whereever. Why can no one get the 747s tail, engines gear etc. to look right... why??? The 737 is not bad for a default jet, but the airbus has some issues visually too. I will not comment on flight models yet, but the lack of level change gets me upset. yet, with the visuals and far superiour visual feeling of flight I get in FSX, I will not be using FS9 much more. Since I fly jets for a living, I can attest to the visuals here are "as real as it gets". I am more excited about this version than others, but admit, addon aircraft will never run smooth as of now, an dI am not even going to try that... Peter James
